Health

We organize people and communities to enable them to collectively identify, prioritize and plan to solve their problems that ultimately leads to sustainable development.

We empower communities to improve their – physical, financial, human, social and environmental needs.

Good health is the foundation of development. Tanga Initiatives seeks to create access to health information and health care services. We provide information, advocacy and services in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for young people and women. Our organization provides education on SRHR through schools, community durbars and the mass media.

Sexual and Reproductive Health

We educate young girls on menstrual hygiene, provide sanitary pads. We educate women and young people on reproductive health services and prevention of sexually transmitted infections. We advocate for community leaders and health care providers to create an enabling environment for women and young people to access SRHR services. We also seek to construct clinics for rural communities.

Maternal and Child Health Services

We promote and advocate for women to access antenatal care services, skilled delivery services and postnatal care services in health facilities.
Nutrition Education
We provide nutrition education in schools, communities and health facilities. We also seek to implement nutrition interventions in schools for children under-5 years old and infectious disease prevention. use of postnatal care services by postpartum women of children under-5 years. We educate women on households nutrition.

Women empowerment

We seek to educate and advocate for women empowerment in communities. We advocate for women participation in leadership, entrepreneurship and household decision making processes. We educate women to control over issues that affect their health and personal development. We seek to make women take active part in decision making and be economically empowered.

Education on Gender Equality and Inclusion

We educate and empower young girls on harness their talents and potentials. We advocate for gender mainstreaming. We form women groups in communities to train and build their capacities to access opportunities in education and employment.

Skills and Entrepreneurship Training

We seek to train women in employable and entrepreneurial skills to become self-employed. We organize training sessions on soap making, bakery, agric and agribusiness streams. We support women to develop skills in ICT. We support young girls to enrol in apprenticeship programmes such as dressmaking and hairdressing.

Climate change

Protection of the natural environment is the responsibility of everyone to ensure human survival and that of future generations.

Tanga Initiatives is promoting climate-smart agriculture among farmers in rural communities to ensure that farmers develop resilience against the negative impact of climate change.

We work with farmer groups and co-operatives to grow crops during the dry season through irrigation.

We promote climate-smart-agriculture among farmers. We train and build the capacities of farmers to adopt climate-smart agriculture. We also train and support farmers to raise livestock as another source of income

Conservation of Environment

We mobilize communities to undertake projects such as tree planting to conserve the enviornment. We sensitize communities and advocate against bushfires. Prevention of illegal logging, and ensuring responsible natural resource management.
